Monday...

Monday was a very eventful day for the Lamm family. Paul and his Spring Hill Raiders won yet another district game 17-0 in 4 1/2 innings! This put their overall record at 15-4 and 8-1 in the district (woo hoo - we are sitting in first for the time being!)!!! So...we are currently ranked first in our district, first in our region and third in the state in Class AA! I'm such a proud coach's wife! It's so fun to watch my husband doing what he loves everyday.

In baby Landon milestone updates...because the game ended so early due to the run rule, I took Landon out on the field after the game. We stood behind Paul and the rest of his coaching staff while they had a mini-meeting and played in the freshly cut grass. Landon loved the way the grass felt on his little toes and kept curling them up to grab the grass. Such a cute little monkey! I decided to let him sit on the grass so he could grab it with his hands. Little did I know that this was going to lead to another first...as he sat so well with my hands barely on him, I took them off of him to see how close he was to sitting on his own. Very close! In fact, he actually DID!!! I started shouting at Paul (and the other coaches) to look. Landon had a huge grin on his face. He obviously knew how incredible the new trick was! He sat so well that I was able to snap several pictures of him! What a great day for us Lamms!

***Update: We beat East Hickman at their field tonight 12-2, making our record 9-1 in the district and 16-4 overall! Go Raiders!

Accepting Life Changes...

Before Landon came into our lives, I was a hyper-organized person. I loved to clean and things like organizing our closet for efficiency and asthetics made me a happy girl. I was a night person and hated the alarm in the morning. Now, it seems as soon as I feed, change and play with Landon, it's time to do it all over again. So, with "me" time or "us" time greatly minimized, I've begun to accept that it's okay that my house isn't tidy anymore. Home improvement projects take much longer to start and complete (by the way, we still do not have quarter-round down in our living room and kitchen after our last project was "completed" - at least the flooring is completely laid!). I take naps during the day and get up early in the morning. I'm okay with that. I actually am getting used to it (and my coffee maker is getting lots of work in each day). Friday nights are spent at home and going out to dinner is a treat for us now.

Our new lifestyle is okay with us though. Actually, it's better than that; it's wonderful! After waiting for so long to meet our sweet little man, we happily accept the abrupt changes that happened in a matter of weeks. We could not imagine our lives any differently and to be honest, we can't remember what life was like before Landon. And that's the way we want it to be!

Growing up every day

Landon is growing so quickly, almost as if before our eyes he is changing. On December 1st, Landon reached two huge milestones. We were shocked that he did either of them so quickly, especially since he is not even a month old!

After a morning feeding, I was changing Landon and being silly to keep him entertained. After he got a dry diaper and a change of clothes, I was showing him things around his room. A friend of mine painted some pictures for his nursery as a gift, and as I scratched at one of them to get his attention, Landon gave me the biggest, toothless smile! It was the most adorable thing and while it lasted just a few seconds, my heart felt like it stopped for minutes. His whole face lit up, his eyes were squinty and his little dimples were the cutest things ever! He will definitely break some hearts with those! I was sad that Paul missed his first smile, but Landon gave him another one later that night.

But, apparently Landon did not want Daddy to feel left out of the "baby's firsts" so that night after Paul changed him and put his sleepy clothes on, Paul laid him in his crib on his tummy. I'm not really sure why Paul did this since Landon sleeps in our room right now or even why he put him on his tummy, but I'm so glad that he did. I was in our bedroom folding the laundry when Paul ran in to ask if Landon had ever rolled over. Obviously, he had not, so I grabbed the video camera and we put him back on his tummy to see if he would do it again or if it was just a fluke...he did it not one more time but two more times before he got tired and started crying! So glad that we got that on film...now if he will smile when I have the camera ready, we'll be good to go!

We are so surprised that he did both of these baby milestones so early and in the same day. Maybe we have a genius on our hands but we certainly have a very active baby boy! It's so much fun to watch him grow every day!
